Project Overview: Replacement of high performance roof system for Aqua Mekong yacht
This project addresses the requirement to replace the roofing system for the Aqua Mekong cruise ship, operated by Aqua Expeditions. The old system, after more than 10 years of exploitation in river conditions, has shown signs of deterioration in materials and performance, affecting both aesthetics and the experience of visitors. The goal of the project is to implement a solution Aqua Mekong canopy new with superior technical criteria.
- Client: Aqua Mekong Cruise.
- Location: My Tho Marina, Tien Giang.
- Category: Design and Construction of Architectural Tensioned Canvas Canopy.
- Year of completion: 2025.

Technical Requirements Analysis & Project Context
The process of analyzing the investor's requirements and assessing the current situation identified the core technical criteria that the new solution needed to meet:
- Aesthetic standards: The design of the new canopy must be aesthetically pleasing, in harmony with the overall architectural language of the yacht.
- Material durability: The material must be highly resistant to specific environmental factors such as UV radiation, humidity, wind and especially salt corrosion.
- Minimal disruption: The dismantling and installation process must be optimized so as not to affect the yacht's commercial operating schedule.
- Life cycle and maintenance: Requires materials with long life and low maintenance requirements, to optimize long-term operating costs.

Technical Solutions and Implementation Process
Based on the analysis, Flexiiform proposed and implemented a technical solution using architectural membrane structure, combining specialized materials and standardized processes.
Selection of engineering materials
Two main materials are selected based on technical specifications and ability to meet operating conditions:
- Architectural stretch film: Using PVC/PES tarpaulin with PVDF coating imported from France. This coating has the function of UV resistance, anti-mold and prevents dirt adhesion, helping the surface to self-clean under the impact of rainwater.
- Linked structural system: All load-bearing components, flanges and cables are made from stainless steel (inox 316). This is a highly corrosion-resistant material, standardized for applications in marine and saline environments.

Standardized deployment process
To minimize downtime, we apply pre-fabrication method. The process is carried out in the following steps:
- Survey & 3D Modeling: Measure, collect accurate data on site and build digital models to analyze structures and loads.
- Design & Technical Approval: Make detailed design drawings and submit to investor for approval before production.
- Factory processing: All steel components and tarpaulins are processed, cut and quality checked at Flexiiform factory according to technical drawings.
- Field installation: Transport the prefabricated components to the construction site and install them. This step is shortened to one working day.

Results and Performance Evaluation
Replacement project Aqua Mekong canopy has completed and fully met the proposed technical objectives, bringing practical results:
- Improve architectural aesthetics: The new roof system has a modern, harmonious design and contributes to enhancing the overall aesthetic value of the yacht.
- Enhance user convenience: The deck space is effectively shielded from sun and rain, creating a more comfortable and airy outdoor living area.
- Optimize operating costs: The use of long-life and self-cleaning materials significantly reduces the cost and manpower for periodic maintenance and upkeep. This solution has also been successfully applied to many projects with similar environmental conditions our.
