Project automatic canopy at the Lycée Français International Marguerite Duras (LFI Duras) gymnasium is a technical solution to replace the degraded manual covering system. The project applies an automatic rolling system with an electric motor, capable of large spans, meeting the high requirements of functionality, durability and convenience for a multi-purpose sports space.

Technical Requirements Analysis & Project Context
The existing manual tarpaulin system at the stadium has developed many technical problems after a long period of use, no longer meeting the operational requirements of a modern international educational facility:
- Material degradation: The old tarpaulin surface is torn in many places, losing its aesthetics and shielding ability.
- Structural deformation: Large-aperture manual rollers (over 6m) sag in the middle, affecting operation and durability.
- Damage due to operation: Using an intermediate support to prevent sagging caused the canvas to wrinkle and tear quickly at the contact point.
- Inefficient operation: Manual winding mechanism takes a lot of time and manpower, causing inconvenience during use.
Therefore, the requirement was that the new system must have a self-supporting structure over a 6m span, durable materials, and fully automatic operation.
Technical Solutions and Implementation Process
To solve the above problems, Flexiiform proposed a synchronous technical solution, focusing on the transmission system and load-bearing structure.
Transmission and Automatic Control Systems
The core solution is to integrate a drive system with an IP55 standard electric motor, 350W capacity. The motor has a torque of 120Nm and a reducer, ensuring the ability to roll/release the PVC curtain stably and quickly (speed ~0.1 m/s). The system is controlled via a simple and safe 3-button control box (Open/Close/Stop). To ensure continuous operation, a manual hand crank mechanism is integrated as a backup in case of power failure.
Roller Shade Material and Bearing Structure
The cover frame and roller are made of galvanized steel and epoxy paint, ensuring corrosion resistance. In particular, the roller is designed with a suitable diameter and thickness to be able to support itself over a 6m span without sagging, completely eliminating the central support that causes damage to the canvas in the old system. The roller blind uses specialized PVC plastic, 0.7mm thick, with high tensile strength to withstand continuous operating cycles.
Enhanced Wind Resistance
To enhance the stability of the roller blind against wind pressure (wind resistance up to 50 kg/m²), aluminum bar joints are integrated between the canvas layers. These bars have a horizontal reinforcement effect, keeping the screen surface flat and minimizing vibration in strong winds, ensuring the durability of the entire system.
