Technical Requirements Analysis & Project Context
The project was set with the requirement to convey the core message of the Ru9 brand – softness, smoothness and comfort – through the facade architecture. The main technical and aesthetic requirements included:
- Organic and soft shapes: The material must be able to create curved lines, simulating the image of a "flying silk strip" according to the design idea, which is difficult for traditional facade cladding materials to meet.
- Independent and compact structure: The new facade system must be self-supporting, without affecting or changing the existing structure of the building. Therefore, the total load of the facade system must be kept to a minimum.
- Energy efficiency: The facade needs to act as a sunshade, reducing the amount of heat absorbed into the building while still allowing natural light to enter to save lighting energy.
- Fast construction progress: The project needs to be completed in an extremely short time (under 2 days) to meet the showroom opening schedule.
Technical Solutions and Implementation Process
To simultaneously meet the above stringent requirements, Flexiiform proposed a comprehensive technical solution, focusing on FlexiiMesh material and optimized construction process.
Technical Material: FlexiiMesh Mesh
The material solution chosen was FlexiiMesh, a woven polyester mesh architectural membrane coated with PVDF. The mesh structure allows air circulation and natural light to pass through, while the PVDF coating provides UV resistance, stain resistance and durability. Key technical features:
- Ultra light weight: About 1 kg/m², many times lighter than traditional cladding materials, significantly reducing structural loads.
- Heat resistance: Capable of reducing up to 81% of solar heat gain into the building.
- High flexibility: Easily shaped into complex curved profiles.

Minimalist Frame Design
Due to the light weight of FlexiiMesh material, the support frame system is designed to be minimalist, consisting only of steel frames shaped according to the contour of the “silk strips”. This solution significantly reduces the load on the existing structure of the building and saves material costs for the support system. This is one of the advantages of applying the facade solution made of light materials.
Optimized Construction Process
All FlexiiMesh panels are pre-fabricated and pre-stretched onto frames at the factory according to the design dimensions. The installation process at the construction site is simply the assembly of completed modules. As a result, the total construction time at the site is shortened to less than 2 days, perfectly meeting the urgent progress requirements of the project.
