The toll station's tarpaulin canopy opens and closes flexibly
The toll square is one of the most neglected forms of contemporary architecture even though millions of people use it every day; some crossed territories and others to get jobs. When the Vadodara Bharuch toll plaza was built on NH 8 in Gujarat, the client wanted to create a new benchmark in the toll plaza industry.
This led to an in-depth search that divided the charging station into basic elements based on need, form and function. Basic to the toll collection system are island stations to accommodate the toll collectors, a canopy for weather protection, an office or administration block, and a tunnel to connect the islands to the board. manage. The most interesting feature of the toll booth is that it never sleeps – functionally, it must operate around the clock.

Canopies and pavilions play an important role in creating a strong visual dialogue; hence, “best canopy” in short. Various ideas were conceived and it was finally decided to recreate the concept of the 'canopy' by removing it completely and providing freestanding winged shelters. The wing-like membrane structures were created so that they could be aligned vertically during most months, with a mechanical control system for weather protection.
To ensure greater safety for employees, the concrete booths were designed and exaggerated to a height of 10 meters. Functionally, these highly impressive structures provide increased visibility to approaching traffic, while their colored signage-focused lighting enhances the overall visual experience of square.

The two prominent building blocks, namely the control block and the office block reflect the concept of 'wings', as both consist of wings, protruding from central glass towers. The control block has been placed centrally for better visual access and future expansion options of the square.
The office block is located adjacent to this area, giving it more privacy. The void of the facades reduces the impact of smoke and sound on the buildings due to heavy traffic. The courtyards and side windows are arranged airily to bring in natural light.
